With a lyrical style similar to Paul Simon's "Graceland" years and the nasal delivery of Bob Dylan, Andi Hoffmann's music satisfies like a big, steaming pot of Swiss gumbo. Hoffmann, a native of Bern, Switzerland, who has spent the last few years calling New Orleans home, is singer/songwriter for his band the B-Goes , who will be playing Friday night, Oct. 8, at The Highlander. Considering his background, it's easy to assume that Hoffman's music is as eclectic as the man himself. "I have all these bits of various cultures in me and I think it comes across in my music. New Orleans has definitely been the biggest influence for me, but for anyone familiar with a European culture, they'll recognize that coming out as well, because those are my roots." The four-piece band is touring to support their latest release "Basil for Nino." Donnie Fetter, Metropolitan Spirit, Augusta,October 7th,1999
