Art Bar, Wednesday October 6
This is the second trip that the New Orleans-based Andi Hoffmann and B-Goes have made to Columbia. Their last gig a sparsely-attended show at Art Bar-was nonetheless a top notch performance that was both captivating and energizing, and lasted well into the night as Hoffmann and his cohorts' enthusiasm was not dampened in the least by the turnout.
Swiss-born Hoffmann is an excellent guitarist, singer, and songwriter working in a genre he calls "multicultural roots music,' and is backed by musicians - bass, drums, and violin-who exude seasoned professionalism as well as passion, an all-too-rare combination. Combining pop, Cajun,
and various other influences into a whole that is full of mystery and vitality, Andi Hoffmann and B-Goes are one of the most talented and Interesting bands the Southeast currently has to offer. Their latest CD is called Basil For Nino.DC, Columbia Free Times, October 99
